Description

Orphaned on a desolate trail by a tragic accident that claimed both his parents, the child’s fate hung in the balance until an Indian hunting party discovered him and took him to a settler’s cabin. There, he found refuge through the kindness of strangers.

Authentic and sobering, this tale from the 1800s is told with a realism born of life’s harshest experiences. Uncompromising and graphic, it delves into the hardships of frontier life, the brutal realities of slavery, the extermination of the buffalo, and the genocide of the Native Americans. It exposes wanton destruction and some of the most bloody and shocking crimes against humanity in modern times. This gripping narrative will pull you into the unforgiving landscape of America’s past, revealing the raw and unfiltered truth of a turbulent era.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Although retired Alan Dunlop continues to write, capturing the essence of a life lived on the edge through The Papoose.

He is truly a survivor in every sense of the word. From narrowly escaping death as a teenager in a shooting to surviving being buried alive, and a miraculous rescue from the Congo River, his life reads like an action-packed novel. His time in Kenya, spanning from 1996 to 2018, was no less eventful, marked by encounters with car hijackers and dangerous criminals.

Alan’s unapologetic critique of societal decline and government policies adds a provocative edge to his storytelling. His unyielding spirit and candid observations make this book a compelling read. Despite the controversies he courted throughout his life, the author finds solace in his bold actions and reflections. The Papoose is a testament to his resilience and tenacity.
